Global Volunteering Weeks, what are those?
Global Volunteering Weeks at Glovo are unique opportunities for our colleagues to participate in field volunteering activities around the world and make an impact within local communities. These weeks allow us to do good beyond the walls of Glovo, while connecting with other teammates and gathering in small groups to share experiences.
Why is this important for us at Glovo?
At Glovo, doing good is extremely important as a value to live by in our everyday lives. Our Global Volunteering Weeks embody each and all of our values and provide us with an opportunity to do good externally, to learn new perspectives, and to bring these experiences back to Glovo. The name of the program “Glovo Cares” says it all, and emphasizes the care value that we carry along with us.

How it started
Last September, the very first Global Volunteering Week was held; a great success! The aim of this week was to connect with non-profit organizations related to our core business; the delivery service and food industry. Our goal was to contribute to making food available for everyone and to reduce food waste. What that looked like? 7 countries, more than 100 non-profits participating, and more than 500 hours of volunteering by our employees!
The second edition
During the last week of February, 2022, we gave our employees a second chance to participate in this life-changing experience; another week full of volunteering activities in 21 locations all over the world (and again, some locations extended to 2 full weeks!). With 15 volunteering ambassadors on the ground, we were able to connect with local nonprofits to find volunteering opportunities for all our colleagues based in different countries and offices. Over 1600 hours were volunteered globally by more than 400 Glovo employees. In total, we were able to support 22 non-profits. Go Glovo! And the great news: the numbers will keep increasing as we continue to volunteer this week!
What can we look forward to?
More volunteering opportunities! Our volunteering program is based on 3 pillars: social, environment and emergency response. Based on that, we have planned two Global Volunteering Weeks and several Volunteering Days in 2022. Our Global Volunteering Weeks are dedicated to the Social Pillar, and offer a week full of activities in several locations, such as serving food in a soup kitchen for the homeless or helping out at local food banks or canteens. Global Volunteering Days will be happening throughout the year, and include activities such as tree planting, beach cleaning, and more!
About Glovo Cares
Glovo Cares was launched more than 3 years ago and started with one activity in which our colleagues could participate: going out on the streets to deliver orders, helping out our couriers. For every order that an employee delivers, Glovo donates €15,- to a local NGO. With this initiative, we have supported more than 50 non-profits around the world so far, by donating over €200.000,- in total! In 2021, we decided to expand our program and offer more volunteering opportunities to our employees. In order to stimulate everyone to participate, every employee can dedicate 8 working hours per quarter to volunteering activities!
In less than 1 year, and thanks to the engagement and care of Glovo employees, we have helped over 100 nonprofits by volunteering more than 700 hours globally, partnering mainly with local food banks and social organizations that support vulnerable collectives.
